Ignite the Fire Confirmation Program
2019 - 2020 Candidates
- Families must be registered parishioners at OLMC at least six months prior to the Ignite The Fire Confirmation Retreat.
- We understand there may be scheduling conflicts for a few families. Therefore, students at OLMC may be confirmed anytime between 9 - 12 grades.
- Six months prior to Confirmation, parents must request a Baptismal Certificate with Annotations from the parish where your child was baptized. If your child was baptized at OLMC, please provide us with the Month and Year in which your child was baptized.
- Candidates will attend our Ignite the Fire 5-day Confirmation Retreat at Holy Cross College in Notre Dame, IN from June 2020. (No service hours or additional retreats are required for our Ignite the Fire Confirmation participants.) Candidates will be confirmed in June 2020, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.
PLEASE NOTE: Although we highly recommend confirmation students attend our weekly Antioch youth events, it is not a requirement to be registered in our Antioch teen ministry program in order to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Confirmation Sponsors
Sponsors for Confirmation must be 16 years of age or older, Catholic, in good standing with the church, and have received the Sacrament of Confirmation. If the sponsor is not a registered parishioner at OLMC, a Letter of Good Standing is needed from their parish stating that they are an active and practicing Catholic. Mandatory Parent Meetings
In order to Pre-register your teen for our Ignite the Fire Confirmation preparation program, one parent from each family who has a teen eligible to be confirmed, MUST attend a total of TWO meetings - choose and attend One meeting from the Fall Session AND choose and attend One meeting from the Spring Session - both sessions are listed below.

The Prep Portion
- Confirmation teens must attend two out of three Antioch Teen preparation meetings in May and June 2020 (Specific dates to follow)
- Confirmation students must attend the entire five-day Confirmation Program retreat in June 2020
Summer School Policy
We are excited to provide our Ignite the Fire experience for your son or daughter. Through our unique 5-day confirmation retreat, we provide catechesis, mass, formation, preparation, reconciliation, community building and service. Therefore, it is important that each of our students attend all five days of the retreat (Thursday through Monday) in order to be fully prepared to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. We have made an exception only for those arriving late due to academic advancement. This policy allows teens enrolled in Summer School to arrive at Holy Cross College no later than 3 PM on Thursday (the first day of the retreat) in order to meet the catechetical requirement for Confirmation.
